Holiday House Essentials

Bach holidays

It’s that time of year in the southern hemisphere for traditional summer holidays. A lot of us spend it very simply in a beach holiday house or bach as it’s called here in New Zealand. They’re usually fairly simple houses, which is nice although they are usually lacking in a few creature comforts so I thought I’d do a little round up of what we take away with us to make us feel a little civilised or to just add to the experience.

Vortex Diamondback Binoculars 8×28

We just recently invested in a pair, it was more my husband’s idea than mine but happy he did it, New Zealand has amazing birdlife to sit back and watch. We bought them for a very good price here.

Geneva Sound System XS

I bought this for Christmas for Guillaume last year, it’s easy to hook up to the iPod, the sound is fantastic and it folds up into the size of a thick notebook which is perfect to pack.

Backgammon

You can’t escape to a holiday house without having some board games. We’ve got a backgammon set like this that rolls up to easily pack. I’m not too much of a games person and tend to only play when we’re way. We’ve spent some fun nights challenging each other – with some good wine of course!

Nespresso Pixie

I’ve managed to not mention it on the blog before now that my husband works for Nespresso. Needless to say, we’re hooked to the coffee, it’s so good and consistent. Living without it is kind of difficult so we have a Pixie that’s small enough we take away with us. I love the look of it also and part of it is made from recycled capsules.

Norm Kettle Teapot

I never know if there’s going to be a good teapot where I’m staying so I take my own. I’m in love with this teapot for so many reasons and the size of it is great for top ups, if you haven’t read my review of it, you can read it here.

T2 Tea

I love a good leaf tea and I’m completely obsessed with T2 tea. It’s such a great concept store that changed the way so many Australian’s drink tea and I’m patiently waiting for them to open shop here in NZ. Until then, I get my husband to stock up on his frequent trips back to Sydney. My all time favourites are Morning Red and Assam.

Do you have any comforts that you take away with you? See you Wednesday!

I’m so looking forward to the holidays and seeing these pics is getting me more excited! Lucky you having a husband that works at Nespresso, We love our machine and Iove that it’s so compact we can take it away with us if we want to. T2 is great isn’t it, was in there today looking for a Christmas present for my mother who loves tea!
