Oh the beloved smart phone! Love them or hate them, they do have some fantastic features that can’t be denied and I’d find  it difficult to go back to the old style mobile phones now. I was chatting with a friend the other day about our favourite apps and I really enjoyed knowing her recommendations, so I thought it might be fun to share with you what I use on a day to day basis.  I’d also really love know if you have any apps that you sware by, other than the obvious social networking apps. I’m on the hunt for a good time management / to do list app for instance, so if any of you know any good ones – please share, along with anything else you use and love.

While I was in Sydney I had a great little outing to The Grounds of Alexandria, which has popped up since moving to Auckland. Some girlfriends of mine raved about it and knew that I would love it so we arranged to meet there for lunch with our tribe of children. I kicked myself for not packing my camera, this place is a playground for not only kids but also adults.

Wow, I’ve been so busy catching up with everyone since arriving in Sydney on Friday, I’m feeling rather exhausted but content all the same. I had a little setback the day before we left when I realised that my son’s passport had expired! I can’t tell you the stress levels I experienced on Thursday while I was trying to find a solution on the phone to Immigration and the airline but thankfully they were so helpful and we managed to get to Australia to apply for another passport. It’s crazy and one of those things you think will never happen to you because it’s the obvious right, to check the passports when you plan to leave the country?

A few months ago at a dinner party, I listened to my friends talk about a zero waste family living in The States that they read about in the French newspaper, Le Monde. This family, they told me, produces only one litre of rubbish a year! I wondered how it could be possible? The next day I googled zero waste family and found Bea Johnson’s blog and my fascination with this idea has kept leading me back to her site.

"strawberry fields forever" Misato Suzuki

“strawberry fields forever” 2007

Admiring artwork on a wall is as soothing to my soul as a beautiful view. I purchased my first piece of original art with my very first pay cheque and that little abstract painting still gives me great pleasure today.

It’s been a while since I wrote about Feng Shui, I’ve actually been spending time implementing it in my home. The funny thing is, some areas in my home already had the good symbols for the corresponding area without me knowing, yet in other areas, I had it all wrong. Interestingly, the areas that needed improving in my life, also needed a little help with the symbols and the others were working just fine! I’ll share with you soon some of the improvements I’ve made around my home. Until then, I’ll continue breaking down the map of the bagua for you.
