Winner interview interior blog awards

I hope that you all had a fab weekend!  Since the official work year began for me, I’ve been working on a couple of exciting projects. I’ll reveal it all in due time, but it’s meant that I’ve had to work a little extra and on the weekend. I did manage to squeeze in some fun though (while my house falls apart around me and no washing done!), catching up with friends, having a lovely valentines brunch and a visit to one of the participating gardens in the Heroic Garden Festival. I’ve long admired this beautiful historic home in Grey Lynn but had no idea what an incredible garden it had behind the gates. It includes every flower, fruit and vegetable you could image, a huge chook enclosure and a natural pool where the owners swim amongst fish and water lilies. All of this, in the heart of inner city Grey Lynn! Remind me to put this fantastic event in my calendar for next year.

Story-of-a-kitchen-renovation-before

Most of us enjoy a good kitchen before and after. It’s a way to get an idea of what we might be up against for the day we undertake the task, and also to gain a little inspiration. My lovely friend in the UK, Amy, has kindly shared some photos and her kitchen renovation story with us. After reading about it, I realized that we each made similar costly mistakes, so if you’re thinking of upgrading your kitchen soon, read on. If you’ve already, well then you might be like me and feel a little kinship with Amy and her experiences and of course have a good nosy at the stylish end result.

A shared Style

If you haven’t already, I invite you to join me over at the very lovely blog, A Quiet Style, for the “A Shared Style” series. It was with such pleasure that Emma invited me to share my dining room and answer a few questions about the space and other things with her readers.

a desk restyle-

Three months in our new home and my desk had a little restyle again. While I think it’s actually a good thing to shuffle things around, especially when it’s a creative space, the main reason for the restyle was that I wanted to put my remaining Happy Moose Wall Dot on the wall above where I work.

NZ House & Garden interior of the Year Awards kitchen supreme winner

Last Thursday I attended the NZ House & Garden Interior of the Year Awards, a prestigious interior award here in New Zealand that judges in single room categories. Entries are open to the interior designers and the public and a great opportunity for those that might not have tackled every room in their home, but have one that they’re particularly proud of. This year there were almost four hundred entries, so making it to the final twenty is a big deal! Today I’m sharing a small taste of some of these from the November issue of NZ House & Garden.

at home with tessuti bed

Welcome to the home of Ali, the owner of Tessuti, a beautiful homeware shop here in Herne Bay.

Whenever I visit Tessuti, I feel like I’m back in France but with a local twist. If you’re not from here, her coveted store is full of the most exquisite products from here and abroad. It’s on a strip of local stores that’s my go to for the perfect gift and also to dream of what I can next purchase for my home.

Featured Elsewhere & Win!

I hope you had a great weekend. We had the most amazing weather both days and unseasonably warm for this time of year. We managed to pry ourselves away from the sunshine and squeeze some time in to add some more touches to our home. We’re at the difficult stage of the odds and ends that we just don’t know what to do with and areas that need something that we don’t own! Overall it’s coming together nicely and it would have to my favourite place to date. The house is an L shape and the two living areas (or one living area and one playroom) over look the sunny garden.

Styled Canvas HQ

Well it’s been a crazy busy couple of weeks. The sudden move of house threw us into chaos and then last week, one by one, each of us got a good dose of the flu. We’re still not fully recovered (from the move and the flu) but today, I do see the light at the end of the tunnel.
