One of the headline partners of the AMARA Interior Blog awards that I had the pleasure of meeting is GP & J Baker, a company with a longstanding history and known to be one of the worlds innovators of fabric design. They have also been the holder of the Royal Warrant since 1982. If like me and you adore beautiful and timeless fabrics, you could get absolutely lost in their site.

urban jungle bloggers plant shelfie-

I took the challenge to create another plant shelfie for this month’s Urban Jungle Bloggers. I was going to style another shelf, but thought it would be fun, seeing that I moved house, to use that same shelf that I did the last time but in a new environment. The big challenge for me was to create something that actually looked different.

Styled Canvas Challenge | Moodboard Favourites

Let’s finish the week with my Styled Canvas Challenge moodboard favourites.

The first is by Gudy of Eclectic Trends. I’m showcasing it here because not only do I think it’s quite spectacular, but also because any of you that are interesting in mood boarding can learn a lot from her. Gudy teaches interactive workshops in Europe (for now) and also has an online course. I was a little lost for how to do a moodboard so decided to purchase her course a couple of months ago and found it so beneficial. It’s her thing you know, learn from the best I say! So do go and check her blog for details and other mood boarding tips.

Happy Moose Dots - Bicycle image in boys room

You might have noticed that I love to rearrange things in my home. Because I rent, moving around artwork is always a little tricky, so I was so happy to discover Happy Moose Wall Dots recently and try them out in my new place. The idea behind the dots is to have your own images printed on removable wall decals. I have to say that I was really excited by the possibilities. We are terrible at printing photos of our kids and the family, so my initial thought was to put some fun photos up, but in the end I thought I’d go for some decorative photo art that really fits in with my interior style.

urban jungle bloggers, plants & flowers

I always enjoy joining in on Urban Jungle Bloggers but I have to say, the October theme of Plants and Flowers was kind of irresistible. I’m sure that a lot of you will agree with me and this will be the biggest one yet. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Styled Canvas October Challenge | Unconventional Shelf

September just flew by, it feels like only a couple of weeks ago that I styled my moodboard! Now we’re on to the October Styled Canvas Challenge, with the new theme “Unconventional Shelf”. After losing the mantle when we moved house, I feel like I’m seriously lacking in display shelf space. So I thought that the Styled Canvas Challenge would be a perfect opportunity to get creative. Instead of going out and purchasing a shelf, I thought it would be fun to create one with something I already have in the home. I ended up using one of the benches to the German beer table that was once our outdoor table. You may have seen that I now use the table as my desk so the benches have been sitting outside with no use, until now.

15-Ways-to-Make-a-Rental-Feel-Like-Home

I’m often asked for ways to help make a rental feel like a home. The biggest piece of advice I can give is to decorate it, as if it were. Everyone’s situation is different. Perhaps you feel like you’ve missed the boat in purchasing your own home. I know so many people like this in Sydney and Auckland where the cost of owning your own home is quite literally insane and unless you purchased a while ago or you earn a really good income, home ownership feels out of reach. Perhaps you’re starting out in the world, or like me you’ve been thrown back into the rental game after moving to a different city as an expat.

Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom

“A new bohemia awaits. Mists of honeyed, golden mimosa float above the spiciness of freshly crushed cardamom. Warm, ethereal, mesmerising.” I have to say that after reading those words, I was already in love with Jo Malone’s latest scent, Mimosa & Cardamom before even opening the beautiful packaging.
