Mini Grandi Artist

I’m having so much fun redecorating the new home and just the other day had some new prints by a New Zealand artist, Sophie of Mini Grandi Artist framed. I fell in love with Sophie’s dreamy watercolours inspired by the wild and beautiful Wanaka landscapes after discovering her work, like so many artists on Instagram. I now have them on display in my entry and our bedroom. What do you think?

Sophie specialised in painting for her fine arts degree, however only just recently started again after working for many years as a graphic artist. It was a turn of events that was out of her control, which in turn became a blessing after adopting slow living and mindfulness. This lifestyle shift was the pathway back to being creative again and the end result speaks for itself.

Mini Grandi Artist means – little grown up artist. Interestingly, she had a quote from Picasso on the back of her graphic design business card for years before going back to her artist roots. It read, ‘every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain one when we grow up.’ She realised the coincidence after naming her business, “I clicked that my name had always been with me, it was like the whole world got a little bit brighter,” she explains.

Sophie and I have been in touch over the past few months and she kindly gifted me these gorgeous prints. I loved them so much that I asked her if she’d be interested in becoming a Great.ly maker. I’m so pleased to say that she agreed and A3 prints of her work are now for sale in the Styled Canvas shop. The high quality digital prints of her original watercolours are priced at a very affordable $US30 including worldwide postage and are each signed and dated.

The print above in my bedroom is called Linear Haze, which is inspired by clouds floating by like islands and the print below is Linear Escape, inspired by retreating mountains and clouds reflecting in the lake.
