Part of the brief for the Design*Sponge shoot, was that I was to supply a maximum of twenty photos. As you can imagine, I have quite a few unused photos hanging around, so I thought I might share some of the unseen kitchen shots with you today.

It’s interesting living in a rental home when you have an interior blog. I’m so clear with how my kitchen and my house would be if it were to be mine. Living in a home made to someone else’s design specs is really frustrating to me, but at the same time, it’s an interesting process. How can I make my own stamp when I’m living somewhere so temporarily?

This kitchen, as far as a rental kitchen goes, is a great one. It’s clean and functional but the wood makes it so dark and heavy for my taste. The thing I do like about it though, is all of the little shelves everywhere and it’s here that we add our personal touches.

So what might my kitchen look like if I were to build or renovate my own today? Well it would totally depend on the bones of the home. Would it be a character home, a converted warehouse or an architecturally designed build? From there I would gain inspiration, I’d respect the intention of the home but I’d add my bit too. No doubt there would be a mix of old and new in there. Of course, if you’re curious, you can always check out my kitchen Pinterest board to get a bit of an idea.

Happy weekend everyone!

What a lovely kitchen, and for a rental property, a great one indeed! I also love the shelves and you’ve got sue lovely things on them too. Just popped over for a peek at your Pinterest boards and your kitchen board and my kitchen board are officially new best friends! Lovely mix of old and new in there. I’m all inspired to finally get our kitchen finished!

Oh I actually love your kitchen! Only the dark wood should be black stone or light wood, for me ;) Beautifully said, that the type of kitchen depends on the bones of the house. I totally agree.

You make the best of what you have to work with. I’m not surprised you were chosen for a Design Sponge feature. Have a great weekend. I wish I could send you some of our hot weather – 104F here – I know you’ve been freezing down there!
