Father Rabbit has made yet another smart move, opening a second store in the lovely Herne Bay neighbourhood since opening its flagship store at BLOC late last year (you can read about that here). Along with all of the adorable kitchen and homewares known to Father Rabbit that encourages anyone into domestic bliss, the Herne Bay store is very much a Fog Linen Showcase, after extending their range extensively, a first for New Zealand. I popped into the store yesterday to take a few photos for you, as I know you all love a little shop tour!

Wednesday evening saw the launch of the new store and much to my and everyone’s delight, Yumiko Sekine the Fog Linen designer and founder flew in to Auckland from Tokyo for just one night to celebrate. She is such a gracious woman and it was an absolute treat to meet her. I have to admit, I was a little bit star struck and had an Instagram photo taken with the lady herself. The evening was a great mix of guests treated to a delicious cheese board, Japanese crackers and Lake Hayes wine.

The new location on Jervois Road is situated in what seems to be becoming a destination shopping strip in homeware and design, with fine neighbours such as Simon James Concept and Tessuti to name a couple. If you’re in Auckland, make sure you put this store and the little strip on your go to list, you’ll love it and you can have a little break in between with coffee or lunch at Zus & Zo. Of course if you can’t make it in person, you could spend hours perusing Father Rabbit’s beautifully curated online store with free shipping incentives to New Zealand and Australian customers.

Such a shame I couldn’t make the opening – I would’ve loved to have met Yumiko and you and I could have caught up over a vino :) The store looks gorgeous as I knew it would. I’m looking forward to popping in one day soon x

Who could resist here? They have pretty much everything one need to feel complete :-) Seriously, I think it is a smart concept because there is at least one thing you have to get before leaving this cool store! They make it so easy. Nice pictures, Mel!
