A couple of months have gone past in Instagram land since sharing some of my Insta Moments.
Christmas in Auckland this year was overcast and rainy, but that didn’t stop us having fun. My son’s favourite part of Christmas minus the presents is popping the crackers. In the last hours I realised that I forgot to get some. Shock! I drove around everywhere on Christmas Eve to no avail and in a state of panic managed to find literally the very last pack in Countdown that was sitting in a trolley to be returned to the shelf. Phew! I love this picture that my husband took of me as the cracker popped, I tell you there was a lot of relief in that laugh…
We’ve been full swing into the school holidays here in New Zealand, which means more time hanging out solo with my eldest. We always enjoy café visits together and now we actually get to have really cool little conversations. This pit stop was at Ariki Store in Grey Lynn. If you’re a local, you must check it out and when you do, make sure you order a milkshake – it’s the real stuff.
I finally made this cherry and almond tart that was adapted by Catherine over at Farmhouse home. No flour, no sugar and sooo delicious! You can check out Catherine’s recipe here.
We had our second summer holiday at Hahei with my parents who were visiting from Sydney and Guillaume’s mum who is here from France. It was so great to have the two sides of the family together and not just for the kids. It was my first time in the Coromandel and I have to say I’m hooked; it’s an absolute paradise.
So did I mention paradise?
The one thing that cheered me up arriving home to the rain was the Reine Marguerite flowers that I purchased twelve days prior, that were left on my kitchen table, happily alive. Crazy good!

I love that pic of you too Mel. Shame it was raining in Auckland over Christmas. Coromandel looks amazing, there’s alot of well kept secrets over in NZ that us Aussies need to discover, this being one of them. Thank you for making my Cherry Tart, mentioning it and linking to it. I never get tired of seeing what a huge climate difference we are having during the festive season. We have quite a bit of snow now (currently in Germany) and you are sunbathing in paradise:-) The first pic is my favorite! . It’s lovely seeing you, Mel! xx
