You may recall that I was planning a New Zealand month in December where each and every post in that month would be dedicated to the wonderful talent we have here in New Zealand. Well, unfortunately I’ve been a bit under the weather for a few weeks and have had to do the bare minimum so I simply wouldn’t have been able go out and put the energy into this project as I would like to. New Zealand Month is on hold until early next year however I thought I’d put together a little Christmas gift guide of things I love that are made by clever Kiwis.

The Everyday Swing

Who doesn’t smile when they hop on a swing? There are so many “adult” design swings on the market but I quite like the idea of going back to that original back yard swing we once had, looped over a tree branch. George & Willy created the Everyday Swing to improve your day, every day and I think it would make a great present for an adult that refuses to grow up.

Make Your Own Angle Lamp

Pretty much everything that Douglas and Bec create is simply outstanding. Their latest is the Make Your Own Angle Lamp that comes in a flat pack to be assembled. Not only would the receiver have one gorgeous looking lamp but there would also be that little bit of sense of achievement for putting it all together, even though it’s supposed to be super easy to do – but we won’t tell them that. Choose from an array of colours for the shade, cord and base.

Black + White Candles

Just on the market are Black + White candles in traditional screw top jars. They are handmade here yet use the finest French fragrances that’s swirled into natural soy wax and finished with a cotton plaited wick. Kiwi with a touch of French? Mais oui, of course I’m going to love that! Candles always make lovely gifts and this could also be perfect as a hostess gift for whoever has been creating that special Christmas dinner for everyone.

Petite Kitchen 2014 Recipe Calendar

I have my life stored in my Mac’s iCal, I love how it syncs with my iPhone but sometimes I wish I could just look over to the wall and at a glance, have an idea of my family’s schedule. There’s such a shift going on at the moment, embracing life as it once was and there’s something said for simplicity, it’s quite liberating. The Petite Kitchen Recipe Calendar includes simple and wholesome seasonal recipes and would make a great gift for food lovers and appreciators of simple pleasures.

See you Friday!

Every single gift is gold! I didn’t know there were adult swing designs on the market (again, I am far too urban…). The angle lamp is wonderful, I need a new one for my home office and will check out their site now. Fingers crossed they ship to Europe. xx
