Since discovering Eclectic Trends over a year ago, I’ve been an avid follower. Gudy, the creator of the blog, is a German girl, living in Barcelona and puts together a very interesting selection of interior focused articles. Gudy’s day job is an interior stylist and international visual merchandising trainer and her work takes her to all of the major design trade shows around the world, giving her (and us) the advantage of keeping up to date the emerging trends. Gudy has also been invited to be on a panel of trend forecasters for Global Colour Research in London, posts a monthly trend report on Decor8 and has most recently contributed to an upcoming interior book to be launched next month. Thank you so much Gudy for taking part in Armoire, Pegs and Casserole’s “My Space” series and giving us a taste of your beautiful home and style – what a stunning setup and those tiles will no doubt be the envy of many!
I live in a beautiful area in Barcelona with buildings from the 19th century. Fortunately, my apartment is in really good shape and has survived several renovations without losing any charm with high ceilings, beautiful moldings and impeccable mosaic tiles.
This is a corner of my bedroom. It is the only furniture beside my bed and nesting tables. I like to have it uncluttered. I have been asking myself many times if it was time now to change this mirrored sideboard. I know it is. But I love how it reflects the tiles. Every single room in my apartment has a different tile pattern but this one is my favorite so I guess it will still stay with me a little while more until I move, which I plan to do still this year.
I like to have some art work around since ceilings are pretty high. There is this one of a kind marbled paper from local artist, Montse Buixó, a photography from Mariam Sitchinava (I will soon offer a give away of her fantastic work on my blog) and a print from Lisa Golightly.
I made the sliced torso many years ago from white clay and of all it is still my favorite sculpture. The little grid vase with the air plant is mine too, Mel knows well, I am a passionate hobby ceramist working on a little collection to be launched hopefully soon.
And the little horse named Hoppel, comes from Jonathan Adler. Do you ‘baptize’ your finds too? We have all sorts on inanimate animals with the most exotic names…
