Moving on…

Hi everyone, I hope that you don’t mind, it’s a personal post today to share a little of my heartbreak with you. Yesterday I got the news that we need to move out of our house as it’s being sold. Yes, our little house, we haven’t been here long, but one that we’ve bonded so well with.

I remember when we bought our apartment in Sydney, it was such a relief to us because we would no longer be at the mercy of landlords, and we told ourselves never again would we feel the insecurity of renting. But situations change, we got transferred to New Zealand for my husband’s work and we were thrown back into the rental game but this time no longer just a couple, but as a family of five, and this will be the third move in two years (sigh).

Last night when my husband and I were on our way to bed feeling rather deflated, we passed by our children sleeping and suddenly everything seemed fine. We’ve got three beautiful healthy children, a great marriage and our health. I’m a firm believer that things happen for a reason, not once has this idea failed me in the past, it’s just a little hard to see what it could be right now.

So now to find a new home that we love, with wonderful neighbours like we do now and to build new memories… Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

Mel x

So sorry to hear this Mel! I can imagine how you feel, you were all nicely settled in this home and it’s come as a sudden shock that you have to move. Once you’ve processed it properly you’ll feel better.

As everyone has said something better will be just around the corner..a new Chesneau family adventure awaits! Best of luck with the new search will be thinking of you. C xx

Thanks Catherine. Yes fingers crossed we find something just as good, if not better! It’s always rather depressing looking, there’s so much junk out there and trillions of people competing for the great properties. There’s also the slim possibility that the new landlords would like to keep it as an investment property… M x

Oh Mel, so sorry to hear that. What you said about your family on the way to bed gave me goosebumps. It puts it all in perspective doesn’t it? All fingers and toes are crossed however I have not doubt everything will fall in to place again soon… I, too am a firm believer in everything happening for a reason x x

Oh, Mel, everything will be fine!
I know moving is stressful but probably as well the beginning of something new and, why not-exciting too. I like your final approach of putting things into the focus of real value and hope whenever you are having a moment of doubt, you remember that glance with your husband at your children sleeping.
Wishing you lots of luck!! xoxo

I think I know that feeling… when I was a student I was also renting apartments and had to move 3 times in 5 years. Although I knew from the start that all these places would be only temporary solutions, I did get attached to my little homes and moving always seemed somewhat sad. But of course, also little bit exciting.
Right now I’m living in our first home with my man, which is an apartment and I already know how hard it would be to move when we decide to switch it for a house in the future when our little family grows… But I try to think that the home is where my family is, so no matter what the future brings, eventually everything is still perfect as long as we are together :)

Good luck for finding your next home! x

Sorry to hear Mel, stressful and emotional : ( x Sure you will find somewhere just as lovely, I too am a big believer in things happening for a reason, it will be a new chapter – wishing you all the best. x

That can be quite disappointing Mel – but I have to agree with you. When times get tough, you have to focus on the positives! The fact that you have a beautiful family means you can make a beautiful home wherever you go. Plus, it’s more remodeling and decorating. That doesn’t o bad ;) I just know everything will turn out great for you! X Yana

Mel-I’m sorry, but I have to agree with you-if it’s meant to be, then something better and more fabulous is just around the corner. It will be exciting!!! Look forward to seeing what you do with your new place! Ps-took quite a few pics for you today. More tomorrow and then I will work on them whilst we are in the Alps next week!!! :-) x

Oh Mel! I have never had to go through this but I know how attached we get to our homes… especially when you love design and taking care of your surroundings, it must feel like being robbed.
A few days ago we drove passed the home we sold a year ago (the one in Your Home & G) and it brought tears to my eyes. I promised myself not to drive down “our” lovely little cul de sac again. Even though we have an even lovelier house now I could not stand seeing someone else living in what we had created, using the blinds I had sewed for hours, enjoying the gardens I was delightfully looking at every day. The neighbourood I walked with my dog every morning, my old running track,… I mean, it was our life for 2 years!!! I can only understand how you guys can feel now, especially with children.
I hope you can focus on what the future holds for you now, maybe a house of your own, who knows??? I wish you luck in your search and as you say everything always happens for a reason, there is no point staying bumbed at the fates of life. xx much love!
