Dress the Desk

Last week we said à bientôt to Mamie Annie and Papi Georges as they returned back home to France and this week it’s my parent’s turn to visit us for the week. It’s wise to say that our little spare room has had a serious workout since Christmas!

Now I’m wondering what I should do with the room? Thanks to Annie, the armoire is looking gorgeous all relined with new fabric. I promise to show you the finished product soon – I just need get a few things for it to complete the job.

I will definitely use the armoire mostly for my office supplies and blog equipment, so perhaps I should use the spare room as my office? It’s hard to know because while I write this blog, a lot of the time I’m doing it while I’m watching the children play in the garden or during their naptime.  The kitchen is a good place for that or with the beautiful weather we’re experiencing, the outdoor table is even better. But oh it would be so nice to have my little space to work from and decorate…

So if I had an open desk in the room, I’d need to dress it well right? Here are a few things that I have my eye on at the moment:

I can store my paper clips and thumb tacks in style with The Magnetic Tower and Cork Cone, both by Daniel Emma. NZ readers can find them at Douglas and Bec, worldwide click here.

Add some colour to the desk and save my fingers with The Birdie Paper Knife by +D Japan. NZ readers can find it at Urbanities, worldwide click here.

I feel like I’m forever using tape at the moment, so rather hiding my little plastic scotch away, I’d rather like this stunning Concrete Tape Dispenser by Magnus Pettersen. NZ readers can find it at Simon James Concept Store, worldwide click here.

I can put the music on my iPhone into good use while I work with these cute Wow Speakers by Kakkoii. NZ readers can find them at Collected, worldwide click here.

I don’t have a Jack Light unfortunately but I could get a Cast Copper Mini Jack by Tom Dixon’s Eclectic range to keep those loose papers from flying away. NZ readers can find it at Simon James Concept Store, worldwide click here.

Is there anything in my selection that you like? Do you think I should move myself into the spare room?  See you Friday everyone!

Cute finds. That’s the second concrete tape dispenser I’ve seen this week. I just pinned a concrete and copper one yesterday! Can’t wait to see your armoire. Hope you had nice time with your parents x

The more I see of Tom Dixon’s designs the more I LOVE them..I have my eye on the copper mini jack. It’s so nice to have a workspace to call your own, it made a huge difference for me when I set up a desk in an area near our living room. I also have a cupboard (not as beautiful as your Armoire) to put my blogging bits and pieces in.

I think you should set up your space it doesn’t mean you still can’t blog in the kitchen or in the garden while the children are playing. xx
